It’s getting down to the nitty-gritty. If your team is teetering on the brink of falling out of your league’s playoff races, it’s going to take some smart decisions and a couple waiver-wire miracles to pull it off. Lucky for you, I’ve found a couple names available on most wires.
Running Backs
Ryan Moats - Texans: What happened to Steve Slaton? He was benched after an early fumble last week, and Moats came in and did a stellar job. He rushed for 126 yards on 23 carries and a whopping three scores. Slaton’s had issues this year, so perhaps head coach Gay Kubiak found something. You should find him too.
LeSean McCoy - Eagles: With Brian Westbrook continually banged up and Correll Buckhalter out of town, McCoy is gaining some serious fantasy value. He saw only 11 carries last week, but rushed for 82 yards and a score. He’s going to split carries, but he’s a great bye-week filler.
Wide Receivers
Michael Crabtree - 49ers: This is back-to-back solid games for Crabtree. He hauled in six passes for 81 yards in the Niners’ loss to the Colts. Alex Smith has been coming on pretty solid in his last two appearances, which is good news for those who took the risk drafting Crabtree. If he’s available, he’s worth a roster spot.
Malcom Floyd - Chargers: Chris Chambers was released and picked up by the Chiefs this week. Floyd, who had two catches for 64 yards in Week 8, is now the No. 2 for a pass-happy Chargers team. Playing in such a weak division, the Chargers can put up some serious points, giving a lot of value to Floyd.
Tight Ends
Spencer Havner - Packers: I know I mentioned him last week, but he had two more touchdowns in the Pack’s loss to the Vikings. Jermichael Finley remains injured and Donald Lee isn’t impressing anyone. Make sure you pick up Havner.
Kevin Boss - Giants: Boss was a pretty solid tight end prospect during most fantasy drafts, but hasn’t done much all year. That is, until last week. Boss had three catches for 70 yards and a score in the Giants’ loss. He’s a big target with big-play ability, and it seems that Eli Manning needs a tight end to gain some confidence.
