Week Three
Just eight early games this week. No one on Bye so there will be a lot of 4 pm games for those with the NFL Ticket.

Kansas City at Atlanta
What a difference a day makes — or in this case four years. The last time these two teams met the Chiefs won 56-10 and set an NFL record with eight rushing TDs.

Inactives
Kansas City: OL Barry Richardson, OL Brian De La Puente, QB Brodie Croyle, QB Ingle Martin, WR Jeff Webb, LB Napoleon Harris, CB Patrick Surtain

Atlanta: C Alex Stepanovich, QB D.J. Shockley, CB David Irons, FS Jamaal Fudge, TE Jason Rader, OL Quinn Ojinnaka, DL Simon Fraser, LB Tony Gilbert

Oakland at Buffalo
Oakland has won four in a row from Buffalo but with Justin Fargas out and Darren McFadden hobbled, Michael Bush will have to shoulder the load and he might just not be enough against a team that looks like it could contend for an AFC East title this year.

Inactives
Oakland: TE Ben Troupe, CB Chris X. Johnson, C John Wade, RB Justin Fargas, OT Kwame Harris, QB Marques Tuiasosopo, OT Seth Wand, WR Todd Watkins

Buffalo: DL Chris Ellis, OT Demetrius Bell, TE Derek Fine, QB Gibran Hamdan, OG Jason Whittle, CB Reggie Corner, WR Steve Johnson, RB Xavier Omon

Tampa Bay at Chicago
The Ernest Graham vs. Matt Forte show. Neither quarterback will be expected to carry the load this week so it will come down to which back can get the job done.

Inactives
Tampa Bay: CB Aqib Talib, OG Davin Joseph, DL Greg Peterson, OL James Lee, QB Jeff Garcia, WR Joey Galloway, QB Josh Johnson, RB Michael Bennett

Chicago: L Anthony Adams, QB Caleb Hanie, OT Chris Williams, SS Craig Steltz, OG Dan Buenning, WR Devin Hester, WR Earl Bennett, DL Matt Toeaina

Carolina at Minnesota
The tale of two cities. No one expected Carolina to be 2-0 without Steve Smith and most thought Minnesota would be 2-0 at this point. With Adrian Peterson a game day decision, Gus Frerotte has to be hating life right now.

Inactives
Carolina: QB Matt Moore, WR Ryne Robinson, WR Dwayne Jarrett, CB C.J. Wilson, LB Hilee Taylor, LB James Anderson, OG Mackenzy Bernadeau, OT Travelle Wharton

Minnesota: QB John David Booty, OL Drew Radovich, TE Jeff Dugan, DL Letroy Guion, FS Madieu Williams, CB Marcus McCauley, WR Sidney Rice, FB Thomas Tapeh

Miami at New England
With Tom Brady, New England would be off the chart favorites this week. With Matt Cassel they are 13.5 point favorites. Take the points. Miami won’t win but New England won’t blow out the Dolphins either.

Inactives
Miami: QB John Beck, RB Jalen Parmele, WR Brandon London, DL Lionel Dotson, DL Rodrique Wright, OL Nate Garner, OL Kirk Barton, OG Shawn Murphy

New England: QB Matt Gutierrez, RB Laurence Maroney, WR Kelley Washington, FB Kyle Eckel, LB Shawn Crable, LB Eric Alexander, OT Wesley Britt, OG Dan Connolly

Cincinnati at NY Giants
Cincinnati is five of 26 on third downs this year primarily because they have no pass protection. After a slow start, the Giants defense responded with six sacks last week. Poor, poor Carson Palmer. I see PAIN in his future.

Inactives
Cincinnati: QB Jordan Palmer, TE Ben Utecht, CB Johnathan Joseph, SS Dexter Jackson, SS Herana-Daze Jones, DL Jason Shirley, DL Pat Sims

NY Giants: RB Danny Ware, WR Mario Manningham, PK Lawrence Tynes, DL Jerome McDougle, LB Jonathan Goff, CB R.W. McQuarters, CB Terrell Thomas, OT Adam Koets

Houston at Tennessee
Tennessee is off to a surprising 2-0 start and even though Houston got an early bye due to Hurricane Ike, the extra time probably won’t do them any good against a team that suddenly looks balanced due to a change at quarterback.

Inactives
Houston: RB Ahman Green, DL Earl Cochran, FS Eugene Wilson, OG Kasey Studdard, TE Mark Bruener, OL Rashad Butler, DL Travis Johnson, LB Xavier Adibi

Tennessee: RB Chris J. Henry, LB Colin Allred, DL Jacob Ford, WR Justin Gage, DL Kevin Vickerson, OT Mike Otto, WR Paul Williams, QB Vince Young

Arizona at Washington
Arizona can’t afford to stumble against a team that has been cold and hot in subsequent weeks to open the 2008 season. Both teams will feature the run but Arizona is likely to be much more pass happy and if Washington can’t get to Kurt Warner, this could get ugly fast. Cue up Jason Taylor — time to earn that new paycheck.

Inactives
Arizona: QB Brian St. Pierre, RB J.J. Arrington, WR Early Doucet, TE Jerame Tuman, LB Ali Highsmith, DL Gabe Watson, SS Oliver Celestin, OT Brandon Keith

Washington: OL Chad Rinehart, QB Colt Brennan, DL Erasmus James, OG Jason Fabini, FS Justin Hamilton, CB Justin Tryon, WR Malcolm Kelly, DL Robert Jackson

From the Fans
JRod12:
Adrian Peterson (vs Carolina)
Ryan Grant (vs Dallas)
Chris Johnson (vs Houston)
Brandon Jackson (vs Dallas)

I’m not sure with the injuries to Grant and Peterson if I should start them or not?

Game Day Advisor: Dallas is ranked ninth in the NFL in rushing yards allowed (84.5) and have allowed just one long run and two TDs. Carolina and Houston are much better matchups. The injury to Peterson is worrisome but the matchup for Grant/Jackson is more so. Go with Chris Johnson (who has a great matchup) and Peterson (and hope for the best). But pay attention to the Game Day Advisor to see if Grant or Peterson are inactive.

fantasynutt:
I’m trying to be patient with Braylon (Edwards). I’m benching Jamal (Lewis) this week and I have an extra spot. It’s between Braylon and Jonathan Stewart — both tough matchups. From the sports forum family I need your input.

On another note I dropped (John) Kasay this week for Matt Prater. Good or bad move?

Game Day Advisor: You have to keep plugging Edwards into your lineup when he is playing. Edwards is averaging 91.5 receiving yards in four career games against Baltimore, his most against any opponent though he has dropped at least five passes this season. If this is a non-PPR league, I would be tempted to put in Jonathon Stewart but if you get a Point per Reception — stick with Edwards.

Danphan:
Which WR for #3?

Muhsin Muhammed (@ Minnesota), Chanci Stuckey (@ San Diego) or Robert Meachem (@ Denver)?

In another league: Stuckey or Bryant Johnson (@ Seattle)?

Game Day Advisor: I had high hopes for Meachem this preseason but thus far they have not panned out. Right now you need to go with the hot hand. Favre has found Stuckey for TDs in consecutive weeks and looked for him on the interception last week. Denver torched the San Diego secondary last week and the Jets should do well passing the ball this week. Muhammad will lose touches to Steve Smith and Meachem, who was in active in week one and ineffective in week two, needs to show something before I recommend him. In your other league, I would flip a coin - no, seriously, I would have to go with Bryant who is getting about twice as many looks as Stuckey is. Johnson has 12 targets on the season and seven last week. Stuckey has seven for the season and four last week. Both have two red zone targets (Stuckey’s first TD was from 28 yards).

Beric:
So for the first time in nine years of being the commissioner for my league, I have started 0-2. I’m doing better in some online leagues, but this is the one I actually care about. Consequently, I need help figuring out how to salvage my season; beginning with this week.

My problem is my WRs are duds thus far. However, I don’t have a whole lot of choices with regard to them, so please give me some guidance on my other positions. (I’ll bold the choices I was thinking.)

QB: Matt Hasselbeck, Brett Favre, *Matt Cassel*
RB: Steven Jackson, *Marshawn Lynch*, *Chris Johnson*, Selvin Young (sitting SJ, am I crazy?)
WR: *T.J. Houshmandzadeh*, *Torry Holt*, Eddie Royal
TE: Antonio Gates, *Tony Gonzalez*

Obviously, I focused on the running backs. But now I’m not sure what to do with them. Help me out, if you can.

Game Day Advisor: It’s hard to sit your first draft pick and I probably would not do it. I would go with SJax and Lynch and sit the rookie. Your WRs seem fine and you are very strong at TE though I know Gates has not shown it this year. Starting Cassel over Favre this week is probably a mistake. Brett faces a San Diego defense that was torched by the Broncos passing game.

Linda:
I’m playing LT, but who should I pick for my second RB S.Jackson, R. Grant, or M. Forte?

It looks like Grant could hurt????

Game Day Advisor: Grant is working himself back into shape from a groin injury but those type of injuries are notorious for lingering. LT is playing with a bad turf toe and facing a decent Jets defense (15th in fantasy points to RBs thus far). The Seahawks have been stingier but after Jackson’s outburst this week, I suspect he will be loaded for bear. The real question should not be between the three you give us. Jackson should start. Your question should be LT or Forte. Forte faces a Bucs team that is allowing 32.3 points per game to running backs. LT is facing the Seahawks who are allowing 22.7. That is a near 10 point swing in Forte’s favor and he is the healthier of the two backs. I would start Jackson and Forte.
